Phoenix Renaissance Inc. was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization on February 25, 1994, by visionary founders Walter Witkowski and Jane Barry Haynes. Over the years, Phoenix Renaissance Inc. has become a cornerstone of the community, recognized for its unwavering commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals and families.

In 2011, Phoenix Renaissance Inc. underwent a significant transformation by merging with the Racepath Community Center. This strategic merger united two organizations with complementary missions, allowing for an expanded range of services to better serve the community. The Racepath Community Center, led by Reverend William Gause, had long been a cornerstone in the community, offering essential recreational, educational, and cultural opportunities. This merger enhanced the collective impact, bringing together resources and expertise to further strengthen the community's support network.
Following the merger, Reverend William Gause took on the role of President/CEO of Phoenix Renaissance Inc. Under Reverend Gause's visionary leadership, the organization navigated a significant period of growth and expanded its reach and impact. His stewardship was pivotal in enhancing Phoenix Renaissance Inc.'s programs, allowing the organization to serve more individuals and families while strengthening its commitment to community service.
Reverend Gause served as President/CEO until his passing in 2023, leaving behind a profound legacy of dedication and community upliftment. His impactful contributions laid a strong foundation for Phoenix Renaissance Inc., enabling the organization to carry forward its mission with unwavering commitment. Today, Phoenix Renaissance Inc. remains steadfast in providing essential recreational, educational, cultural, and economic opportunities that uplift the Racepath and Horry County communities. By honoring its founders and past leaders, the organization continues to build on their vision, looking toward a future of growth and expanded community impact, driven by the core values that have guided it since its inception in 1994.
